Starting off climbing, it’s easy to believe that strength is the key to improving. But the truth is, you probably have enough strength in your main muscle groups, you just need to use it effectively. That’s where technique comes in. And the foundation of technique is footwork! And it makes sense, why not put your biggest muscles to good use and save some energy in your upper body.
After all my years climbing my biggest tip is to learn footwork technique. Whether that’s by jumping into a Learn to Climb course at your local gym, getting advice from a mentor or even searching YouTube.
Learn proper footwork and practice, it is the foundation.
